Gabe Holder - Artist / Producer
I have been playing music since 7 years old. Starting with piano lessons then sneaking into my brothers room to play his drums and then on to the guitar. My early taste was rooted in the UK punk scene but more on the melodic side with my first ever album purchase being Rattus Norvegicus by the Stranglers. This progressed to the early UK Heavy Metal movement with bands like Iron Maiden, Saxon and then AC/DC and particularly the album Back in Black which cemented my love for lead guitar. There was then a natural progression to more classic / prog rock with particular interest in bands like Pink Floyd, Rush, Hendrix, Free.
I then turned my interest to the dance music scene that was very prevalent in the late 1990's. I was often frustrated by the lack of any real musicianship in this genre but also saw that the art here was in the production. This was a pivotal moment as it was how I really transitioned into a producer. I still retain a great appreciation for the earlier music I grew up with and have a much more open minded attitude. I find myself now listening to bands like Duran Duran, which I hated at the time, with a far greater appreciation and understanding.
My current musical direction is somewhat split between prog / classic rock and electronic chill with bands like Zero 7 and Air being a real influence. I even delve into my own form of EDM / classic house music which has my own flavour of electronic and played instruments.
